And in 1992, elation washed over the city when Howard Wilkinson’s side won the last ever title of Division 1 as England’s top tier domestic competition.

To put that into perspective, Leeds had fought off Second Division relegation only four years earlier.

That is the true magic that the English football model is able to evoke.

And to safeguard that magic - and these memories - the Super League must be scrapped.
