Leeds United skipper Liam Cooper facing no further action following apology to ball boy

LEEDS UNITED captain Liam Cooper will face no further action from the FA after apologising for swearing at a ball boy in the defeat at Fulham

Cooper released a statement on Thursday explaining that the FA had brought it to his attention that he had sworn at a ball boy with United 2-1 down and heading for a first defeat in 12 games at Fulham last month.

The FA confirmed Cooper had been asked for his observations of the incident but the Whites skipper then issued a public apology and the defender will face no further action.

Cooper said in his statement: "The FA have brought it to my attention that during injury time in our game with Fulham in December I used some bad language in front of a ball boy.

“I was trying to get the ball back for a throw in during the final moments of the game as we looked to equalise.

"That isn’t an excuse, I’m the captain of Leeds United – a role I take extremely seriously – and I should know better.

“I apologise to the ball boy in question and his family. I’ve sent some boots and a shirt with a written apology to him Fulham to pass on. Once again, sorry.”
