Calverley teenage racer Jon Lancaster drove his opposition into the track in the last rounds of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 series in Barcelona. Watch picture slideshow of race action.
And the 18-year-old racing driver took second place in the championship with two great victories in the last meeting of the season.
Jon Lancaster, who is sponsored by West Yorkshire-based aviation company Multiflight, was in great form last week in Estoril, Portugal, winning both races and was definitely the man in form at the end of the season.
On Sunday he led the field twice in races in Barcelona.
Jon, who converted from karting where he was number one in the world karting rankings in 2006, had a quiet start to the season but has gained the upper hand in recent races.
He scored a second place at Budapest, followed by a win at Donington, and his 100 per cent weekend in Portugal took him up to second place in the championship.
Jon took the runners-up position on the final podium following the last round of the championship in Barcelona at the weekend.
Winner
The title was already wrapped up with Brendon Hartley (Epsilon Red Bull) the clear winner, but second place for Jon was a fantastic outcome for the youngster in his first year in the series.
Jon said: "If there'd been a few races more, I might have won the championship.
"The work that we put in with the team has really paid off and I know that I can be satisfied to finish in second overall.
"My best memory of the season still has to be Donington. It was
fantastic to win at home."
Proof of Jon's promise as a driver is that at age 13 he was singled out by the talent-spotter who discovered Kimi Raikkonen and Jenson Button.
Prior to graduating to single seater racing cars, Jon was one of just a dozen professional kart drivers in the world. Drivers such as Michael Schumacher, Mika Hakkinen, Ayrton Senna and Fernando Alonso started out in the karting arena, just like Jon.
