Calverley United U-8s took on Leeds Juniors having lost only two matches since November of last year.

The best chance of the half fell to Lewis in the sixth minute when with only the goalkeeper to beat he blazed over from two yards.
To attempt to break the deadlock on 10 minutes Max Wier came off the bench still hoping to break his duck for the season.At half time the score remained 0-0 with Ethan Horne not having to get his gloves dirty in anger.
Calverley started the second half brightly with Harrison Marcus sending a powerful shot,from just inside his own half, over the goal in the first minute.
Once again Calverley dominated possession but found it hard to breakdown the Leeds Juniors defence and create any clear cut chances.
The goal eventually came after 25 minutes when ,with the best move of the game Lewis ran down the left and crossed the ball into the path of Harris Thompson who blasted the ball past the keeper from the edge of the box.
The game looked to be ending 1 - 0 when a dog ran on to the pitch causing the game to be halted.This clearly distracted the Calverley players consentration.
After the restart Leeds Juniors immediately obtained a corner.The ball was crossed into the box for Harris Thompson to turn into his own goal.This woke Calverley up but despite laying siege to the Leeds Juniors goal they could not score.

Calverley United U-8s 8Leeds Juniors U-8s 0Steve "Jose" Thompson clearly motivated his players. Calverley attacked from the whistle and got off to a bright start .
In the 4th minute Owen "The Poacher" Bailey squared the ball for Danny Taylor to hit an unstoppable shot from the outside of the box leaving the keeper no chance.Owen Bailey then then turned from goal provider to scorer.
In the 8th minute he received the ball just inside the box and with great footwork turned leaving the Leeds Juniors defence for dead blasting over the keeper.
The floodgates now opened.60 seconds later.Asher Simkins,who was having an inspirational game, made a strong run through the middle of the park unleashing a shot from the edge of the box which flew past the keeper.
On nine minutes Calverley scored from the best move of the game when Danny Taylor did a mazy run down the left wing to cross in for Owen Bailey who,with his back to goal,spun and hit a looping short over the keepers head.
This resulted in "Jose" style changes with Callum and Tommy coming off the bench.The substitutions had an immediate effect when,just before half time Danny Taylor picked the ball ball up and shot from the edge of he box into the corner of the net.The ball took a huge deflection but no doubt Danny will claim this as his hat trick goal.Calverley went into the break 5-0 up.
The second half was clearly damage limitation for Leeds Juniors who now tightened their defence.Calverley also relaxed and took their foot off the pedal having done the hard work in the first half.
Leeds Juniors held out until the 24th minute when Danny Taylor sped through the Leeds Juniors defence to slot coolly past the keeper.This time his hat trick could not be in doubt.
This spurred on Owen to score his own hat-trick scoring on the angle.
Owen could not hide his delight with a strange hand "bird like" celebration the meaning of which will only be known to him.Sky have a lot to answer for! Leeds Juniors managed their only shot of the game in the 27th minute.
Danny Thompson completed the rout on the 29th scrambling the ball over the line for his 4th.
