Calverley United U-8s took on Garforth Villa in their latest league encounter with a heavy muddy pitch taking its toll.

He fired in a cross to Lewis Waddington who beat two Garforth players unleashing an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box leaving the keeper with no chance.
The crowd sensed that there could be a possible upset. Calverley maintained a strong work rate with lead by the impressive Harry Davis with Garforth being unable to maintain any possession.

Garforth's only chance came in the 14th minute when Ethan was forced into a superb save.
Could Calverley keep up the workrate.Particulary given the heavy conditions.Garforth had clearly been given the hairdryer treatment at half-time.
In the 19th minute Calverley failed to clear the ball and Nathan Hawkshead for Garthorth hit a shot on the angle to score. Calverley were now rattled by this and in less than two minutes Garforth were 2-1 with a shot from Ben Carless.
All the effort by the Calverley players was beginning to take its toll with some tired legs.
Garforth continued to put on the pressure when a weak shot from Joe Walton put them 3-1 up.
Calverley refused to give up and in last minute of the game got a well deserved goal with Lewis Waddington scoring his second of the game with a shot from the edge of the box. Garforth could surely not have had a harder match all season.

Matters improved when chocolate biscuits were hand round to the Calverley supporters. This may have not lifted the players but had the desired effect for the parents.
Calverley responded strongly when Danny Taylor saw his shot palmed over the bar. Garforth continued to press but came up against the one man defence of Thomas.
Calverley continued to seek the equaliser with Louis Squires making several good runs with a "David Platt " type performance creating several chances non of which were converted.
Calverley went into the break a disappointed 1-0 down. However once again the Calverley supporters spirits were lifted by the re appearance of chocolate biscuits!
Calverley started the second half well when Danny Taylor burst through the Garforth defence to score with a typical clinical finish.
Shortly after Danny Taylor turned provider with a deft pass playing Louis Squires through with just the goalkeeper to beat but shot wide of the post.Calverley would soon regret this miss when Garforth scored a second goal through Oliver Worland.
This was very quickly followed by a third Kewell Morley with a great solo effort.
Calverley responded immediately. Danny Taylor, showing amazing pace and footwork ran down the left wing, was able to get the ball away just as he was brought to ground to Louis Squires.
Who took the ball in his stride to score a deserved goal. However delight was short lived when Garforth went straight back down the other half and scored with an opportunist shot from Jack Barker.
Calverley could not recover from this knock out blow and shortly before full time Kewell Morley scored his second to give a score line which did not reflect the game and flattered Garforth.
