The Owl is enjoying a rebirth since mum Gina Howard, 42, took over a year ago.

Eldest son Steve Bednarek, 23, right, is bar manager and cellarman, while other son Scott Howard, 20, runs its restaurant.

Daughters Sarah, 21, and Samantha, 19, double up as barmaids and waitresses.

Glasgow-born Gina has turned the boozer, on the junction of Rodley Lane and Bagley Lane, into a focal point with real ale, live music, food nights and a summer beer festival.

Gina, said: "It's absolutely great working together as a family and there are no big rows because I'm always right.

"We have everybody from OAPs coming in on a lunchtime to families and the younger crowd who love the real ales Steve's put on."

Steve juggles his web-design day job with his bar duties and believes he is the city's youngest cellarman.

In April The Owl was given Leeds CAMRA's most improved pub award and it is in the Good Beer Guide 2009 for the first time.
