Livia Mizikarova was held on remand as a result, which Judge Christopher Batty said was “not a surprise” given the nature of the offences. The 35-year-old expectant mum appeared at Leeds Crown Court this morning via video link from HMP New Hall, where she has been since June.

Now heavily pregnant, she had previously admitted making threats to kill and possession of a bladed article.

Prosecuting the case, Beatrice Allsop said the defendant had a long-standing feud with her neighbour on Coniston Gardens in Halton. On the morning of June 13, her neighbour was woken by Mizikarova shouting and screaming. He came to the front door with his wife and their two children, and Mizikarova was outside and was shouting: “I’m going to kill you.”

Witnesses said she shouted it at least three times and tried to beckon the man out of his house, waving the brown-handled 12” kitchen knife towards him. Miss Allsop said: “She was angry and aggressive and he genuinely believed she would stab him.”

The police were called and she was arrested, but gave a no-comment interview. However, she did say: “I’m not crazy, I know what’s going on. I want to kill the children and the wife as well. Everybody.”

Little mitigation was offered by her barrister, Craig Sutcliffe, after Judge Batty said he would not be looking to lock her up any longer. He acknowledged that she had “complex mental health problems” and that she had already been on remand for more than four months.

He gave her a 12-month sentence, suspended for two years and told her: “These are serious offences and very frightening for the complainant and his family. They were terrified. They had no idea what you would do with that knife. They feared the worst.

“I’m satisfied that when you committed these offences you were struggling with your mental health. The offences merit a sentence but I’m prepared to suspend that sentence.”

He gave her a five-year restraining order to stay away from the road she had lived on, and ordered her to complete 20 rehabilitation days.
