Michael Lokuciejewski-Taylor, from Carr Hill Road, is profoundly deaf and disabled and is currently in intensive physical training for the challenge.

The 20-year-old is also using the walk to raise sponsorship for WheelPower, a charity which provides special adapted wheelchairs for disabled children to help them take part in sporting activities.

Michael said: "This means a lot to me because even though I have hearing loss, I always felt that people with walking difficulties struggle more and disabled people struggling actually pains me."

The trek will be undertaken by Michael and his companion James Hall.

Michael has set a fundraising target of £3,500, and donations can be made online at: www.justgiving.com/michael-lok-tay
