"Be fit, be safe, be smart" - That's the message from police in Calverley as part of a new initiative to crackdown on crime and the need to keep fit and healthy.
The week long initative involving the North West Divisions Neighbourhood Policing Teams saw the force team up with Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Metropolitan University to highlight the need to keep fit and healthy and advantages of good education.

Jamie Peacock, who play for the Leeds Rhinos, showed his support for the initative at a book signing at the Owlcotes Centre.

There was also a media vehicle in Calverley, the Owlcoates Shopping Centre and also in Pudsey Park to show the work that the police do within the area.

Insp Tom Horner from the West Outer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "This is an excellent initative which has been fully supported by our partners and other agencies.

"The media display vehicle is a great way of passing on information and contact detail to local communities.

"We have also received some very good feedback from people in Calverley and Pudsey about the vehicle."
