At a time when everyone wants to know the provenance of what’s on their plate, the family-run Rythre Arms use farm delivered produce and source, age and butcher their beef for diners to enjoy.

Only the best quality produce makes it to their table in the cosy and characterful restaurant, in the heart of beautiful Yorkshire countryside. It’s the ideal destination for a summer drive out and close enough to York, Harrogate and Leeds.

Based in the pretty village of Ryther (yes, the restaurant is spelt differently!), early bird diners can enjoy mouthwatering rump steak and chips for just £13.50 for an 8oz steak, £20.50 if you have a bigger appetite for a 16oz steak, or £32.50 for a 32oz steak which will satisfy the biggest of appetites!

Sharing platters are the new addition to their a’la carte menu and the tables have even grown larger to accommodate them. Or if steak is not your thing, vegetarian options are available, including roast red pepper and bean lasagne or sea bass fillet with mussels.

A beef history

The Rythre Arms steakhouse has been in the Linley family in the village of Ryther, between Tadcaster and Selby, for four decades and they celebrate their 40th anniversary this year!

Original owner Eric, who ran the pub and restaurant with his wife Marina, used his skills as a master butcher to build its reputation for exceptionally flavoursome and tender steaks. Now the business is run by his son, former chef Tony, with his wife Lisa.

Their love of what they do best is not only on the plate but also extends to ‘cowhide’ wallpaper and cow-themed art, for an old-world charm.

Tony said: “We are a ride-out destination and perfect for a meal to celebrate your special occasion. Though our early bird offer makes it an affordable treat, which everyone needs at the moment.”

He added: “We are one of the longest established, family owned restaurants in Yorkshire and regularly feature in Top Ten lists for the UK’s best steakhouses. It’s a great place for a summer treat.”
