The plane had been scheduled to jet to Tenerife at 4.10pm on Sunday but didn't take off until 1.30pm the next day.
Jenny Hodgson, 54, of Bingley, was due to jet out with her family for a week.
Speaking from the airport, Mrs Hodgson told the YEP: "We've been brought back to the airport, checked in and told we could go on the flight but we are still waiting. We don't know anything, there's no information, nothing."
Mrs Hodgson said most people were frustrated at the lack of information.
"It was so disorganised. The service has been appalling. We just didn't know what was going on. There was no communication. "
A spokesperson for Thomas Cook said: "We're really sorry that due to the bad weather conditions TCX229K flight from Leeds Bradford to Tenerife was not able to depart as planned. There was heavy snowfall at the time of boarding and as a result the airport authorities closed the runway in order to have it cleared. Although the runway was reopened it was not cleared sufficiently for us to depart safely."
Another passenger had to abandon her planned mini-break to Dusseldorf, Germany, after her flight from Leeds-Bradford Airport was cancelled due to bad weather.
The traveller, who didn't want to be named, said they were told about the cancellation two hours after the scheduled take-off on Sunday evening.
She said Jet2.com staff told her everything was "fine" with the flight as she checked in - but she later heard through a German passenger that Dusseldorf Airport had closed several hours earlier.
She and her daughter have now scrapped their three-day Christmas break after securing a refund on the outbound flight and hotels.
She told the YEP: "It was like they were playing a waiting game, like poker. Who was going to give up first, the passengers or the airline?
"I asked them at check-in if there were any problems, and they said they weren't. Then later on, we found out that Dusseldorf Airport had closed due to the bad weather several hours before we checked in. The staff should have been more efficient."
Weather forecasters predict that the cold snap will continue for the next few days.
Tony Hallwood, commercial director of Leeds Bradford Airport said they were working hard to ensure there is minimal disruption to passengers, adding: "We would advise passengers to refer to their airline carrier for the latest travel information."
